We are looking for a skilled bricklayer to join our construction team. The responsibilities of the bricklayer include reading construction drawings mixing mortar laying bricks and blocks and finishing walls and structures to specification.
To be a successful bricklayer you should be able to work to precise levels and alignments and interpret construction drawings accurately. Ultimately a top-notch bricklayer should be physically fit detail-oriented and comfortable working outdoors in all weather types.
Bricklayer Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Setting out work areas and determining the required materials and quantities.
Mixing mortar to the correct consistency and joint thickness.
Laying bricks and blocks to construct walls and structures as per drawings.
Checking work for accuracy using spirit levels plumb lines and gauges.
Cutting and shaping bricks/blocks as required for openings and corners.
Carrying out pointing and finishing work to a high standard.
Building and finishing features such as arches corners and copings.
Repairing and repointing existing brickwork as required.
Cleaning and maintaining tools equipment and the work area.
Bricklayer Requirements:
KCSE
Kenyan Passport (valid minimum 1 year validity)
Certified Grade Test
3 years working experience
A completed apprenticeship in bricklaying.
An NVQ certification in bricklaying may be advantageous.
Basic work experience in construction may be advantageous.
A good understanding of health and safety issues.
The ability to read and follow technical plans and drawings.
The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good physical fitness and stamina.
A keen eye for detail and precision.
Strong practical and teamwork skills.
