We are looking for a safety-conscious blaster to join our construction team. The responsibilities of the blaster include preparing surfaces using sandblasting/shot-blasting equipment selecting the correct blasting media and ensuring surfaces are ready for coating or finishing.
To be a successful blaster you should be able to operate blasting equipment safely and follow strict health and safety protocols. Ultimately a top-notch blaster should be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather types.
Blaster Responsibilities:
Preparing surfaces for painting coating or finishing using sandblasting/shot-blasting equipment.
Setting up and operating blasting equipment safely and correctly.
Selecting appropriate blasting media and pressure settings for each surface.
Inspecting blasted surfaces for quality and specification compliance.
Masking and protecting areas not to be blasted.
Cleaning up blasting media and debris after completion of works.
Carrying out routine maintenance and inspection of blasting equipment.
Following strict safety protocols including correct use of PPE and respiratory protection.
Reporting equipment faults or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
Maintaining accurate records of work carried out.
Blaster Requirements:
KCSE
Kenyan Passport (valid minimum 1 year validity)
Certified Grade Test
3 years working experience
A completed apprenticeship in surface preparation/blasting.
A completed relevant health and safety short course (e.g. respiratory protection).
An NVQ certification in surface preparation may be advantageous.
Basic work experience in construction may be advantageous.
A good understanding of health and safety issues.
The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good physical fitness.
Strong practical and teamwork skills.
